Scam Alert: Fake ASE Texts Targeting New Tecumseth Residents

The Town has issued a warning about a scam involving fraudulent text messages claiming to be part of the Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) program. These messages falsely instruct recipients to act on an “Ontario Speed Sanction Warning” to avoid demerit point deductions.

Important facts to know:

  • Penalty Orders under ASE are issued by mail only. The Town of New Tecumseth does not send Penalty Orders via text or email.
  • Demerit points are not deducted for camera-based offences under the ASE program.

Demolition in Downtown Tottenham to Make Way for Expanded Parking

A familiar corner of downtown Tottenham will look a little different by mid-August. The property at 4 Mill Street is scheduled for demolition from August 11 through August 15, as part of a project to expand public parking in the area.

The work will begin with the removal of a former show home on the site. Later this fall, a second phase will take down the car wash and a nearby driveshed barn. Once both phases are complete, the entire area will be cleared and opened up for additional parking.

Update: Watermain Break Repaired – Tecumseth Street, Beeton

The watermain break at Tecumseth Street & Maple Street West in Beeton has been successfully repaired. Crews have completed the necessary work, backfilled the excavation, and reopened the road between Main Street West and Maple Avenue West.

The Town appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during this emergency repair.

Please note that work is still ongoing in the area of Maple Avenue East, and watermain isolation remains in effect between 10 Sideroad and Centre Street.
