Doors Open event Sept. 21

Banting Homestead Heritage Park (5116 Sir Frederick Banting Rd., Alliston)

Managed by the Sir Frederick Banting Legacy Foundation, Banting Homestead Heritage Park is also a diabetes management and education centre. Visitors can visit the birthplace of Sir Frederick Banting – 1923 Nobel Prize winner for medicine for the co-discovery of insulin. Learn about diabetes and the discovery of insulin, explore the historical farmhouse, drive shed and heritage exhibits.

Beattie’s Distillers (6673 13th Line, Alliston)

The Beattie family have been farming potatoes in the same location in Alliston for 5 generations spanning over 100 years. Five years ago, fourth generation farmer Ken came up with the audacious idea of adding to the farm by building a craft distillery on the property and creating amazing spirits. Our Potato Vodka was voted "World's Best Vodka" in 2018. During Doors Open come and visit the farm and distillery. Samples will be available after 11 am for those aged 19 and over (with identification). Please enjoy responsibly.

K2 Milling (120 Dayfoot St, Beeton)
An Ontario focused, artisanal flour mill that operates as a continuation of the Hayhoe family’s 128 year legacy (1891-2019) in the Milling industry in Ontario. Owner Mark Hayhoe has been milling for 28 years. His intensive knowledge and care combined with an irreplaceable passion for milling enables him to create the quality milled products for which they are known. Come visit the site during Doors Open and let the history of K2 Milling unfold before your eyes!

Honda of Canada Mfg. (4700 Industrial Parkway, Alliston, ON)

Discover the joy of creating with a behind-the-scenes tour of Honda of Canada Mfg. See where the award-winning Civic and CR-V, powered by Honda engines are built. Self-guided tours of the production departments will take visitors through stamping, weld, assembly, die cast and polymer to name a few. No photography permitted, except in designated areas. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. Available on site: parking, washrooms, partially accessible, kid friendly, self-guided tours.

Gibson Centre (63 Tupper St W, Alliston)

Visit the Gibson Centre and enjoy some live music, the “Bold and Beautiful” exhibit, Artist in Residence visit, guided tours and self-guided tours! The gift shop and café will be open for souvenir, gift items and refreshments. Guided tours are available 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every ½ hour.  

Seven Star Masonic Lodge (28 Victoria St. W., Alliston)

The members of the Seven Star Lodge have been active in the community since receiving their charter in 1872. During Doors Open, enjoy light refreshments and tour the lodge room, ask questions about Freemasonry and learn about the organization’s history. Enter either from Victoria St. (chairlift available) or Dominion St.

Museum on the Boyne (250 Fletcher Cres., Alliston)

Stop by Museum on the Boyne for Doors Open fun for the whole family. Join us for a kids crafting and creating station and butter churning demonstrations. Check out our gift shop and newly installed exhibits.
