Water supply discussions continue, no impact to plans for Tottenham

NEW TECUMSETH, ON – The Town of Collingwood will be having discussions with its Council on Monday, April 26, 2021 about its Drinking Water Supply and Wastewater Treatment Plant Capacity as well as an Interim Control By-law and Land Use Planning Policy Study.

In each of the options that Collingwood staff will put forth to their Council, the Town of New Tecumseth’s current water supply needs including what is needed to bring Tottenham online will be met.

“Tottenham will still get water as planned. There will be no impact on the Tottenham Transmission main project which is on target to be completed and placed online in 2022,” said New Tecumseth Mayor Rick Milne.

The potential for reduced supply will still permit New Tecumseth to meet its current and immediate needs and plans for Alliston, Beeton and Tottenham.

The Town of New Tecumseth will continue to work on its water supply agreement with Collingwood including expansion and upgrades to the Water Treatment Plant in Collingwood to support future growth.
