Planning Act Notices

Notice of Complete Application

Notices of Complete Application are prepared to acknowledge receipt of ‘complete’ planning applications pursuant to the Planning Act. The notice invites residents to view the application submission and express their views on the proposal. A Notice of Complete Application and a Notice of Public Hearing may sometimes be combined in one notice.

Notice of Public Meeting

A Notice of Public Meeting is a notification that Council has scheduled a public meeting to consider and receive input on a planning application pursuant to the requirements of the Planning Act. The date, time and location of the meeting are identified in addition to a brief description of the purpose and planning contract information. A Notice of Complete Application and a Notice of Public Hearing may sometimes be combined in one notice.

Notice of Passing By-law

A Notice of Passing is a notice issued by the Town after Council has passed a Zoning By-law Amendment, Official Plan Amendment, or similar land-use decision. It informs the public that the by-law has been approved and outlines the statutory appeal period during which eligible parties may file an appeal with the Ontario Land Tribunal.

Committee of Adjustment Notices

Committee of Adjustment notices provide public notification of hearings regarding minor variances, permission, or legal non-conforming uses, usually mailed to property owners within a 60-metre radius.

Notice of Open House and Public Meeting

A Notice of Open House and Public Meeting is an official invitation for the community to review and provide feedback on proposed development plans, zoning changes, or official plan amendments. These sessions often feature staff presentations, displays, and Q&A opportunities before formal council meetings.
