Zoning

The Town of New Tecumseth’s New Comprehensive Zoning By-law 2021-128 came into effect on September 13, 2021, with the exception of two site-specific appeals. The Zoning By-law defines the permitted uses of all lands within the Town, and regulates the height, size, location, etc. of all buildings and structures. The Zoning By-law is the primary tool used to implement the Town’s Official Plan, and is passed in accordance with the Ontario Planning Act.

Official Plan

The Town of New Tecumseth’s Official Plan describes our land-use strategy for growth and development. The Plan contains different policies and maps that guide our future land use as the town grows and changes over the next 20 years. It is a legal document required by the province through the  Ontario Planning Act.

The County of Simcoe approved the Town’s new Official Plan on June 25th, 2019.

Please note, as of July 18th, 2019, the Town of New Tecumseth and the County of Simcoe received three appeals to the approval of the new Official Plan to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT). These appeals are currently underway, pursuant to the LPAT Rules and Procedure. The affected sections will revert to the former 2010 Town of New Tecumseth Official Plan and related secondary plans.
