14th Line and C.W. Leach Municipal Class EA

Background

The Town of New Tecumseth has identified a need to evaluate options for improvements to 14th Line from Industrial Parkway / County Road 10 to Sideroad 10, including the Mayberry Bridge, and improvements to the C.W. Leach Road corridor from 14th Line to Highway 89 to accommodate anticipated increases in traffic as a result of ongoing and planned residential and industrial developments in the area.

Scope of Work

The Town hired R.J. Burnside and Associates Limited to complete a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment and preliminary design of the road improvements. The study will consider a wide range of multi-modal transportation improvements, including road widening, bridge replacement, cross-sectional requirements, active transportation, intersection improvements, and overall traffic operations and safety.

The impacts of the transportation improvements on the social, cultural, and natural environments will be assessed and evaluated through the study.

The Town will also ask for feedback from the public, Indigenous Nations, government groups, and others. Two public meetings will be held so people can learn more and share their thoughts.

 This study will follow the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process (Municipal Engineers Association, 2024), as a Schedule C project, which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.
