Boyne River Pedestrian Bridge Replacement
Project No. P25-22 – Boyne River Pedestrian Bridge #11011 Replacement
The Town of New Tecumseth has hired Tatham Engineering Limited to design the replacement of the Boyne River Pedestrian Bridge in Alliston. The bridge is near the end of its lifespan and needs to be replaced.
Project Overview
The project will include replacing about 30 metres of the existing bridge and improving connections to the Merlyn Duffin Walkway for pedestrians and cyclists.
Project Timeline
Tatham will begin field work near the bridge in Spring 2026. This will include land surveys, tree and environmental reviews, archaeological studies, and soil testing. This work will take place near the bridge only. There will be no work on private property, and the bridge will remain open during the investigations.
Once a draft design is ready, the Town will share it with the public to gather feedback and answer questions. Details about public consultation will be provided at a later date. Construction is planned to start in 2028.
