Local businesses are a vital part of New Tecumseth's economy. They provide jobs for our friends and family, assist countless community initiatives with donations, volunteer efforts and sponsorships of our kids' sports teams, and are a part of the fabric of our Town's unique character.

Now more than ever, it's important to show them your support.  Safely rediscover everything that New Tecumseth has to offer.  Support local and "Make it New Tec" for your next shopping, dining, or recreation excursion!

Shop, Dine, and Unwind Safely

The safety of New Tecumseth residents and workers is the Town's top priority. It's important to support local, but it  must be done safely and responsibly to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Businesses throughout New Tecumseth are taking steps to provide safe experiences for their customers and staff. Do your part to protect yourself and others when you Make it New Tec by following the advice of health authorities. In addition to wearing a face covering, practicing physical distancing, and regularly washing your hands, you can also follow these tips to safely support local:

  • Plan ahead

    • Refer to individual businesses, attractions, and events directly to confirm their safety practices and procedures, whether or not specific offerings are affected, if hours of operations have changed, or if you need to book a time or reservation.
  • Use contactless delivery, curbside pick-up, and take-out options

    • Minimize potential contact with others and safely receive delivery, curbside pick-up, and take-out orders.
  • Make an appointment or reservation

    • Limit your exposure to others by calling ahead to schedule a time for your next haircut, aesthetic service, or dining experience.
  • Use touch-free payments to limit contact

    • Avoid handling money and receiving change by using cashless payment options.

Downtown Alliston

Eat Local

Buying produce from local markets, enjoying one of the dozens of outdoor dining options in Alliston, Beeton and Tottenham, or getting take-out or delivery from your favourite local restaurant are all great ways to support the local business community.

To help support local restaurant owners in their recovery from the economic impacts of COVID-19, the Town introduced its Temporary Restaurant Patios Program. This program provides restaurants that don't have a permanent patio space on their property with the opportunity to take advantage of the summer weather and offer safe outdoor dining space to their customers. This is in addition to the patio program being operated in partnership with the Alliston Business Improvement Association that has seen the installation of curbside patios on Victoria Street in Alliston's historic downtown.
