Located an hour north of the Greater Toronto Area and minutes west of Highway 400, the Town of New Tecumseth is in the southern portion of Simcoe County and is home to the vibrant centres of Alliston, Beeton and Tottenham.  Between the 2016 and 2021 Census periods, the Town saw a 28% increase in population to 43,000 residents.  The Town has been designated as a growth area by the County of Simcoe and it is anticipated that the population could increase above 80,000 residents by 2051.  The below information provides information about our Town.

The Town of New Tecumseth is growing with affordable and safe neighbourhoods, urban and rural amenities encompassing the best of both worlds, people have found their destination for the prefect live-work balance.

  • New Tecumseth is growing dramatically and has been designated as a growth node by the County of Simcoe, the Town is anticipated to grow to at least 80,000 residents by 2051.

  • The Town saw a 73.7% increase in the number of immigrants living in the Town between the 2016 and 2021 Census periods.

  • The 2021 Census indicated there are at least 8,400 residents or 19.1% of the New Tecumseth population that immigrated to Canada.

  • The average age of New Tecumseth resident is 41 years-old in line with the Ontario average of 42 years-old.

Improvements Along Major Transport Routes in Simcoe County

The Ministry of Transportation is currently working on several transportation initiatives and studies for SSimcoe County including:

  • Additional lanes along Highway 400 and new over/under pass construction.

  • New interchange along Highway 400 including McKay Road in Barrie, Line 6 in Innisfil and Line 5 in Bradford West Gwillimbury.

  • Expanding Highway 427 to Barrie.

  • Additional lanes along Highway 89 and interchange reconstruction. 

  • 400-404 Connecting Link recently approved 16.2 kilometre, four-lane controlled access highway that will provide an east-west connection between Highway 400 in Bradford West Gwillimbury and Highway 404 in East Gwillimbury.
