Mayor’s 2026 Budget Brings Improvements to Serve You Better

NEW TECUMSETH, ON – New Tecumseth residents can look forward to meaningful improvements in their community following the approval of the Mayor’s 2026 Budget. The budget includes a 2.84% property tax increase for services and a 1% tax increase for Capital Levy—amounting to approximately $155 per household.

Residents will see direct benefits in the year ahead. The opening of Fire Station #4 and the hiring of four full-time firefighters will enhance emergency response and public safety. A new Town website is being launched to improve access to services and information. Road upgrades will improve travel and infrastructure, while traffic calming and safety initiatives will make neighbourhoods safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. Families will also enjoy refreshed parks and playgrounds, with improvements designed to enhance outdoor spaces across the Town.

“The annual budget process is one of the most important tools we have to plan for the future,” said Mayor Richard Norcross. “It allowed us to reflect on our services, assess priorities, and make responsible decisions that support both current needs and long-term goals.”

The budget is closely aligned with the Town’s Strategic Plan, which guides decision-making across departments and ensures that investments reflect community priorities. It supports long-term goals such as sustainable growth, enhanced service delivery, and improved quality of life.

“The 2026 Budget reflects our dedication to balancing progress with fiscal responsibility,” added Mayor Norcross. “It positions us to support our residents, invest in infrastructure, and build a bright future for everyone who calls New Tecumseth home.”
