Recycling Collection in Simcoe County Has Changed

Residential recycling in Simcoe County is now managed by Circular Materials, a not-for-profit organization appointed by producers under Ontario’s new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework. This province-wide shift moves responsibility for blue box recycling from municipalities to producers of recyclable products.

What’s the Same?

• Your collection day and carts remain unchanged.
• Garbage and organics continue to be managed by the County of Simcoe.

What’s Different?

• Recycling is now collected by Emterra Environmental Inc. on behalf of Circular Materials.
• Garbage and organics are still collected by Miller Waste.
• Separate trucks and routes mean pickup times may vary—place materials at the curb by 7 a.m. (6 a.m. in some downtown cores) on your scheduled day.
