Statement from the Simcoe Auto Mayors on Electric Vehicle Policy Announcement

The Simcoe Auto Mayors commend Prime Minister Mark Carney’s new federal auto strategy, highlighting the repeal of the Electric Vehicle Availability Standard and the introduction of the Electric Vehicle Affordability Program.

“As Chair of the Simcoe Auto Mayors, we thank the federal government for considering our feedback, withdrawing the EV mandate and introducing a comprehensive Auto Strategy,” said New Tecumseth Mayor Richard Norcross. “While this marks a positive step forward, we recognize that there is more work ahead.”

The Simcoe Auto Mayors reconvene this week to discuss how to actively support our auto workers and the broader auto sector.
