Beeton Memorial Arena - Update

The Town’s contractor will be starting repair work on the Beeton Memorial Arena this week. The work is anticipated to be completed in about three months. Motion below.

Be It Resolved That Council suspend the Rules of Proceedings to allow for Deputations to Council related to Committee item C.W.5 (3) Beeton Memorial Arena - Update Carried Unanimously

Be It Resolved That Report #PRC—2023-18 be received;

And Further That the deputations of July 10, 2023 from Erin Nolan and Joe Feiner be received;

And Further That the deputations of July 24, 2023 from Joe Feiner, Erin Nolan, Mark Shaw, Carlo Carlucci, Janice Hutchison, Tim Osmond, Sabina Morell, and Christine Brayford be received;

And Further That the staff receive Council's approval to pause operations at Beeton Memorial Arena commencing in October 2023 due to recommendations provided by the structural engineer until such time as the repairs noted in this motion are complete;

And Further That staff be directed to complete the identified minor truss reinforcements and new X—bracing system, including top cord and minor web reinforcements, and tightening all bolt connections as outlined in the Beeton Community Memorial Centre Truss Condition Assessment;

And Further That the Beeton Facility Reserve Fund be used to cover costs associated with the truss condition assessment repairs;

And Further That staff be directed to reach out to Flato Developers to investigate funding or donation to assist in the repairs of the Beeton Memorial Arena as outlined in the structural assessment.
