July 30 - Fire Danger Rating is Extreme

New Tecumseth, ON – Effective immediately, the Town of New Tecumseth has issued a total open-air burning ban due to ongoing dry conditions. This proactive measure is essential to safeguard public safety and reduce the risk of wildfires during this period of elevated fire danger.

What’s Prohibited:

• All forms of open-air burning, regardless of existing burn permits
• Use of fireworks
• Cooking fires and any coal, charcoal, wood, or woodchip-fueled barbecue devices

What’s Allowed:

• Cooking appliances with a mechanical shutoff (e.g., propane or natural gas barbecues)
  • These must be placed on a hard, non-flammable surface (such as a deck or patio)
  • Ensure they are well away from any combustible materials

The ban will remain in effect until further notice.
