Mill Street East Sidewalk Realignment

Sidewalk relocation work will be starting on Nov. 6. The work is located on the south side of Mill St. East (4th Line) at the railway crossing, between Keogh St. and The Boulevard, Tottenham. Traffic and pedestrian disruption can be expected. In accordance with Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) requirements, their flagging personnel has also been retained as the work is in close proximity to the tracks and CPR requires uninterrupted operation as part of this project.
The work consists of the removal and realignment of approximately 10 metres of sidewalk on each side of the railway track with some curb installation and completed with restorations. This work is required to provide adequate clearance around the new gates, installed earlier this summer by CPR.
Due to the nature of the project, periodic single lane closures will be required within the project limits on both sides of the railway tracks, and traffic disruption during working hours can be expected.
During this time, the designated school crossing, west of Keogh Street will be maintained. However, the sidewalk on the south side of Mill Street will be subject to a full closure, between Keogh Street and The Boulevard to facilitate the work. As such, pedestrian access will not be permitted on the south sidewalk through the work zone and pedestrian traffic will be detoured to access the north sidewalk. The Contractor will provide a traffic control person stationed on Mill Street at The Boulevard/McCurdy Drive intersection during daily working hours, between 7am to 5pm, to assist with pedestrian crossing and detour.
