New Tecumseth Celebrates National Indigenous History Month

Mayor Norcross, Town Council and the Town of New Tecumseth celebrates National Indigenous History Month this June.

Throughout the month, we recognize the enduring histories, cultures and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples, and the important role they continue to play in shaping our community and country. National Indigenous History Month is a meaningful opportunity to deepen our understanding, reflect on our shared history, and acknowledge the ongoing impacts of colonization.

It is also a time to renew our collective commitment to reconciliation by listening, learning and engaging with Indigenous voices, stories and perspectives. By fostering awareness and respect, we can help build stronger relationships and a more inclusive future for all.

Residents are encouraged to explore educational resources, participate in local and virtual events, and take time to reflect throughout the month.

Together, let us honour the past, recognize the present, and move forward in the spirit of reconciliation.
