Day Camps

The Town of New Tecumseth provides day camp for children aged 4-17 years. Our vision within Recreation programs is to be a leader and valued partner in building a healthy community.  All day camps are designed to build campers imagination, curiosity, creativity, self-esteem, and confidence.

Subsidy Information, Support Persons 

Everyone is welcome! The Town of New Tecumseth believes that all residents should have access to programs and services offered by the Recreation, Facilities and Culture Department regardless of age, ability, or financial need. Admission fees may be waived for support persons accompanying a person with a disability to their program of choice.

Camp registration is available online or over the phone.

Call our Client Services team at 705-435-3900, choose option 2.

 Camp Hours of Operation

Day camps are offered daily Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Camp is offered throughout the summer at various locations; however, they do not run on Statutory Holidays or weekends.

Please note, Aqua Adventures - swim camp participants will be dropped off at the Alliston Rotary Pool for 8:45am and picked up at the Alliston Memorial Arena. 

Day Camp locations:

Camp Staff
  • Camp Leads - Senior staff who oversee the day to day activities for all camp locations town wide.
  • Camp On-site Leads - The Senior Staff who is responsible for the program planning, campers and staff at a specific camp location.
  • Camp Counsellors - supervise a group of children, while following a set schedule and outline of activities throughout the day.
  • Inclusion Facilitators - work directly with a camper who may need additional support to successfully participate in a camp day.

Our camp staff are fun, energetic and personally invested in ensuring a successful camp experience for each camper!

You will take comfort in knowing that all of our summer staff have been carefully selected after a thorough screening process including an interview, reference checks and vulnerable sector check.

All staff are certified in First Aid & CPR-C. The are also required to participate in Behavioural Management Systems and HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development Training.

Our counselors undergo an extensive pre-camp training program which include topics such as program planning, understanding child behaviour, problem solving, emergency procedures, as well as practical experience such as leading games, crafts and songs!

Camper Behaviour Guidelines
In an effort to ensure a positive, safe and secure environment for all involved, participants are asked to review and adhere to the Behaviour Guidelines for Recreation Programs.
Camper Information Form (CIF)
Each child is required to complete a Camper Information Form (CIF) prior to attending camp. The CIF can be completed and emailed to seniorcamp1@newtecumseth.ca. A copy of the CIF will also be emailed along with the camp newsletter prior to your chosen camp week. Paper copies will also be available at each camp location. 
Camper Medical Forms 
 Consent to Administer Epinephrine Form 
Please complete the Consent to Administer Epinephrine form if your child requires their epinephrine at camp.
 Camper Medical Waiver Form - permission to administer medication
Please complete the Administration of Medication Form if your child requires medication to be administered while at camp- inhaler, prescriptions, etc.
Camper Allergy Alert 
Please complete the Allergy Alert form to inform staff of any allergies that your camper may have.
Summer Camp Welcome Package 
Camp is such a fun and exciting time. To make the most of your child's camp experience, we have created a Summer Camp Welcome Package to help best prepare for camp this season. Please look through the package as it will help ease you through the process and answer some common questions.
 Extended Care Camp Options

Whether you need to get somewhere early or need a little extra time at the end of the day, camp staff are on site to interact with campers. Extended care requires additional registration and has separate morning or afternoon options for each corresponding week.

Extended care is available daily from:

  • 7:30 am to 9:00 am 
  • 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm

Extended care rates are:

  • Before Care (5 days a week): $39.13 per week
  • After Care (5 days a week): $39.13 per week
  • $6.65 fee will be charged for late pick up every 15 minutes 

Extended care is only available at certain camps and locations.

Inclusion/1:1 Camper Support 

Campers of all abilities and/or special needs are welcome to participate in our summer camp programs. We are committed to providing positive accessible and inclusive experiences and recognize that some individuals require additional support in order to successfully participate.

Safety Measures - What to Expect 

The Town of New Tecumseth follows all public health guidelines. 

• Headcounts are taken multiple times throughout the day

• Low camper to leader ratios

• Campers will be divided into separate age appropriate Squads with a designated leader

• Designated camp rooms for each Squad with space for personal items

• Dedicated supplies for each Squad

• Designated sign in/out locations

• Balanced outdoor programming (weather permitting)

 What to Bring to Camp 
Items to bring daily:
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Nut-free snacks and lunch
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Bathing suit and towel (where applicable)
  • Closed toe/heel shoes &/or running shoes
  • An extra set of clothing

Make sure to write your child's name on all items. We donate lost and found items at the end of each week.
