The Town of New Tecumseth provides a variety of registered programs. Program sessions open seasonally in the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.

One Day Experiences 

Our One Day Experiences provide a range of exciting, short-term activities perfect for a single day of fun and engagement. From hands-on baking and craft tutorials, to lively "Parent's Night Out" experiences and festive holiday family parties; these programs are designed to offer memorable, diverse experiences in a compact format. Ideal for families, they provide opportunities to explore new hobbies, enjoy special events, and create lasting memories in just one day.

NEW - Canvas Creations (ages 18+)

Dive into the world of acrylic paint with Canvas Creations, a one-day immersive painting experience designed for adults. In this engaging and relaxed setting, you'll learn fundamental painting techniques from our seasoned instructor, Katherine Fievet, who will guide you step-by-step through the creative process.  By the end of the class, you'll walk away with your very own masterpiece to take home and cherish. Whether you're a seasoned painter seeking to refine your skills or a complete beginner looking to explore your artistic side, Canvas Creations offers a fulfilling and enjoyable journey into the realm of art. Connect with like-minded individuals, ignite your creativity, and create lasting memories along with a beautiful piece of art.

Katherine Fievet is a regional artist based in Alliston, Ontario. She has exhibited her work locally through a number of organizations. Her areas of focus are drawing and painting, which she studied at OCAD University. She has instructed through the South Simcoe Arts Council and is also an artist instructor at the Maclaren Arts Centre.

Bake & Take (ages 8-12)

Join us for a fun, seasonal baking adventure where kids will learn a delicious recipe to share with loved ones. 

Pajama Party! - Previously 'Parents Night Out' (ages 4-11)

Calling all parents! Could you use a break? We are having a pajama party where your kids will have fun crafting and playing games while you enjoy a few hours to go out for dinner or run some errands! We will even take care of story time and brush teeth to help make bedtime a breeze for you! Kids, don't forget to wear your favourite pajamas! 

PA Day Programs (ages 4-11)

Get ready for an action-packed day at one of our Fun-tastic PA Day Programs, where participants will dive into a world of adventure, creativity, and fun! Designed to make the most of the PA Day, this full day program offers a perfect blend of engaging activities, skill-building games, and plenty of laughter in a safe and nurturing environment.

Active Play & Learning Spring Programs

Active Play and Learning programs are designed to blend physical activity with educational enrichment. These programs offer a dynamic and engaging experience that focuses on promoting gross motor skill building, while also fostering cognitive development and social skills. Participants enjoy a balanced mix of exercise and learning, ensuring a fun, healthy, and stimulating environment that supports overall growth and well-being.

 Warrior Athletes - Soccer (ages 2-5)

A fun and active introduction to basic soccer skills designed to enable our athletes to accomplish more challenging skills and movements in later years. By incorporating agility, balance, co-ordination and speed into games and exercises, participants will also be introduced to some fundamental movement skills essential for life, health and sport. This program is designed to help create confidence and independence in all our participants, parental participation may be required.

This program takes a fun and active approach to the introduction of a variety of sport and more challenging movement skills. By incorporating agility, balance, co-ordination and speed into games and exercises, participants will learn fundamental movement skills essential for life, health and sport. The perfect way to combine fitness and fun!

Busy Bees (ages 1.5-2.5)

This active play program encourages the development of social, cognitive, and gross motor skills, along with autonomy as children and their caregivers explore a variety of activities and equipment with other participants. Please come with indoor shoes and a water bottle. Comfortable clothing recommended.

Mondays 9:30 - 10:30 AM Ages 1.5-2.5 

Movement Monkeys (ages 2.5-3.5)

This active play program encourages the development of social, cognitive, and gross motor skills, along with autonomy as children and their caregivers explore a variety of activities and equipment with other participants. This program provides an opportunity for caregivers and their children to work on gradual separation in preparation for independent programs in later years. Please come with indoor shoes and a water bottle. Comfortable clothing recommended.

Mondays 10:30 - 11:30 AM Ages 2.5-3.5 

Play & Learn (ages 1.5-2.5)

This play-based program introduces children to circle time, literacy, and reinforces social and emotional skills by giving children the opportunity to engage in developmentally appropriate learning stations and activities. Play and Learn allows for caregivers and their children to work on gradual separation in preparation for our independent program -Little Sprouts- in later years. Please come with indoor shoes and a water bottle. Comfortable clothing recommended.

Tuesdays 11:15 - 12:15 AM Ages 1.5-2.5 

Little Sprouts (ages 2.5-4)

This program emulates the kindergarten experience by providing a child-led, play-based program geared towards supporting healthy child development and kindergarten readiness. Please provide indoor shoes and a nut-free snack. Children must be able to be dropped off and participate independently. Children must be toilet trained.

Energy Blasters (ages 3-8)

Get ready to unleash your energy and have a blast! Our Energy Blasters program is designed to get you up, moving, and having fun with a variety of high-energy group games and movement activities. Each session is filled with action-packed games that promote fitness and coordination. Participants will build strength, agility, and endurance while making new friends and enjoying the thrill of active play. Let's get moving and make some unforgettable memories together!

Arts, Culture & Heritage Spring Programs

These creative programs offer a hands-on journey into the world of artistic expression and cultural exploration. Participants can dive into a variety of artsy activities, cultural traditions, and artistic heritage. These programs are designed to inspire creativity, develop artistic skills, and celebrate diverse cultural practices all while providing a rich and engaging experience.

 Heritage Highlight Talks

Dig into the past with our museum lecture series, where history comes alive through engaging 45-60 minute presentations by esteemed guest speakers and knowledgeable museum staff. Join us as we explore a range of historical and culturally significant topics that offer insight into the heritage that shaped our community.

 Museum Makerspace Workshops

Creatively explore our rich local historic tapestry with engaging hands-on workshops designed for ages 16 and up. Our approachable 1-2 hour workshops, hosted by talented third-party instructors or enthusiastic museum staff invite you to play, create, learn, and connect.

 Back in Time PA Days

Step back in time with special PA day activities at the Museum on the Boyne. Come explore the past in a fun and interactive way with old-timey crafts and games, historical demonstrations, and challenging scavenger hunts.

Recommended for ages 5+. Children visiting the museum must be accompanied by an adult. 
Admission by donation. 

 Museum Spuds and Sprouts

Introducing Museum Spuds and Sprouts – our way of welcoming our youngest visitors to explore, play, and learn at the museum. Great for ages 2-4, we are pleased to offer themed hands-on crafts and sensory activities to introduce you and your little ones to the museum.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

In this engaging program, participants will team up to tackle a variety of unique and inspiring DIY projects, providing a fantastic opportunity to socialize and share ideas with fellow crafting enthusiasts. Let’s dive into a world of creativity, laughter, and teamwork—because crafting is always more fun when we do it together!

Messy Munchkins (ages 2-4)

Let's get messy with arts, crafts, and lots of sensory fun! This program is designed to provide maximum opportunity for both parent and child to socialize, play, and create together. The ratio of one child to one adult is maintained to ensure that you can fully participate with your child. Together, you will explore your messy side with weekly introductions to different crafting mediums and sensory experiences, such as: the tactile delight of brush strokes, the sticky sensation of gluing, and the satisfying sound of tearing. Get ready for a rich sensory adventure where creativity knows no bounds!

Welcome to Art Adventures! In this introductory art program, participants will expand their artistic world as they explore a variety of art forms. These programs are designed to enhance coordination, build confidence, and foster a deep appreciation for the performing arts, providing a dynamic platform for self-expression and creativity while promoting physical fitness and storytelling skills.

Kinder Dance (ages 3-4)

Twirl, jump, and move! Young dancers will dip their toes into the basics of dance while learning a choreography. Participants will explore various dance styles throughout the class. This program focuses on movement and fun. Families will be invited to an end-of-session recital to see the choreography their younger dancer has been working on.

Kinder Ballet (ages 4-6)

Pirouette, Jeté, Plié! This program is for the young dancer wanting to learn ballet while having fun. The classes are designed to introduce children to basic ballet positions and movements. Little ones will develop balance, strength, control and self-confidence while also learning how to take turns and follow instructions. Families will be invited to an end-of-session recital to see a choreography their younger ballerina has been working on.

Lights, camera, action! Welcome to Curtains Up, where young performers unleash their creativity and embrace the magic of the stage. Each week, participants will dive into different dramatic forms and techniques as well as work towards putting on their own play which families are invited to attend on the last day. From improvisation to dynamic tableaux, every session is designed to spark their imaginations and build confidence. Through fun acting exercises and collaborative projects Curtains Up fosters teamwork and creativity, encouraging participants to be silly, take risks, and support one another. Join us for a thrilling experience filled with laughter and the joy of performance. The theatre is calling!

Zumba Kids (ages 7-11)

Zumba® Kids high-energy dance inspired workout is packed with kid-friendly dance steps including the traditional cumbia, salsa, merengue and a variety of other rhythms. We break down steps, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class routine. This dance party promotes a healthy lifestyle and incorporates fitness as a natural part of children's lives.

Food & Nutrition Spring Programs

Our Food and Nutrition programs offer an engaging exploration of healthy eating and culinary skills. Participants learn about balanced diets, nutrition basics, and cooking techniques through interactive workshops and hands-on kitchen classes. These programs focus on empowering individuals to make informed food choices, develop healthy eating habits, and enhance their culinary abilities, all while enjoying the process of creating delicious food.

Snackful of Fun! (ages 5-7)

In this fun with food program, children will learn how to make easy no-bake snacks and treats they can recreate. This program serves as an introduction to our other kitchen Programs, it covers some basic food and kitchen safety elements along with the importance of the Canadian Food Guide. Participants work to create a cookbook, filling it each week with a new recipe that they get the opportunity to make in class and bring home after.

Junior Chef (ages 10-13)

Want to cook? It has never been this easy! Learn about basic food preparation and tricks to making time in the kitchen a breeze while creating simple, tasty meals. Participants will create a cookbook, filling it each week with a new recipe that they get to make in class and bring home after. Weekly, the Junior Chefs will explore various elements of a restaurant and work towards opening their own for the final program night; where, they will have the opportunity to invite two people out to their restaurant grand opening.

Welcome to Wacky Science (ages 3-5)

Join us to explore and discover the way the world works. In this fun, introductory program, your child will participate in a variety of experiments as they learn about the scientific method. This program serves as a provocation to build off of the children's wonderings/ interest and to spark curiosity. Adults are encouraged to participate with their child during the transitional process of this program. The ratio of one child to one adult is maintained in order to ensure that you can fully participate with your child. Fee is for the child only.

Observation and experimentation, it's Wackier Science! The Tinker Trials (ages 10-13)

Calling all junior scientists, engineers, explorers, and inventors! In this program participants will be faced with various challenges and tasks that they can use science to overcome! This program focuses on developing innovation, problem solving, and critical thinking as participants explore various elements of STEM. Tinker your way through creative tests and fun trials. I have a hypothesis that if you enjoy hands on learning, you are going to love this program!

Sport Development Spring Programs

Sport Development programs focus on enhancing athletic skills and promoting growth in various sports. Participants receive instruction and participate in various drills tailored to their skill level, with a focus on technique, strategy, and teamwork. These programs aim to build confidence, improve performance, and foster a love for sports through structured practices, competitive play, and supportive coaching; providing a solid foundation for athletes of various ages and abilities to excel and enjoy their favorite sports.

Badminton (ages 6-13)

Learn the fundamentals of badminton in this program suitable for all skill levels. This program is designed to keep participants engaged in a non-competitive environment. Together, participants will work through various badminton techniques as they learn how to play the game.

Babysitting Course (ages 12-16)

The Town is excited to partner with Get Outdoors for a Babysitting Course! Learn safety tips, childcare skills, conflict resolution, fun games, safety awareness, babysitter rights & responsibilities, and basic first aid.

Stay Safe - Home Alone Course (ages 9-11)

The Town is excited to partner with Get Outdoors to offer a Home Alone course. Kids aged 9-11 will learn responsibility, safety rules, and first aid skills to stay safe and be prepared when on their own at home

Refunds, Subsidy, Support & Inclusion Info 

Age Requirements 
Participants must be the minimum age required on the start date of the program. Age requirements are program specific and indicated with the details of each program description. 

Subsidy Information, Support Persons 

Everyone is welcome! The Town of New Tecumseth believes that all residents should have access to programs and services offered by the Recreation, Facilities and Culture Department regardless of age, ability, or financial need. Admission fees may be waived for support persons accompanying a person with a disability to their program of choice.

Inclusion Opportunities

The Town of New Tecumseth is committed to providing recreational experiences to all individuals with various abilities. Our integrated program encourages participants who have special needs to take part in registered programs with additional support at a 1:1 ratio. Please contact Camp staff by emailing recreation@newtecumseth.ca to discuss inclusion opportunities.

Payments & Refund Requests 
Refund Requests 
Refund requests must be submitted in writing or by email to recreation@newtecumseth.ca. Please allow up to 15 business days for processing of refunds. Hold/extension, cancellation, or refund requests for fitness memberships must be submitted in writing with the necessary forms completed. Fitness memberships are non-transferrable. 

Administration fees are waived when a medical note is provided for all cancellation requests.

  • A full refund, less the $18.90 administrative fee will be issued upon request when the request is received with more than 5 business days prior to the course start date.
  • A pro-rated refund, less the $31.30 administrative fee will be issued when the request is received with less than 5 business days to the course start date, but prior to the fourth scheduled class.
  • When the program cancellation fee is greater than the registered program fee, and a medical note has not been supplied, a refund will not be provided.
  • Once the fourth scheduled class has commenced, refunds may be issued for medical reasons only and the administrative fee will be waived.
  • Refunds will not be issued for pool fouling’s, inclement weather, or swim lessons at the Alliston Rotary Pool. 
Summer Day Camp Payment Plan 

A payment plan is available for second or subsequent camp registration for families registering for multiple camp weeks per child. Each subsequent camp program will require a down payment of $40 at time of registration. 

  • A payment plan must be paid in full before the Monday two (2) weeks prior to the camp start date. To set up a payment plan you must add a valid credit card or EFT information on to your recreation account to allow scheduled payments to be processed.

Payment plans must be set up in person at the recreation centre when registering for summer day camp. EFT/credit card information must be presented at the time of registration.

The Town of New Tecumseth Parks, Recreation & Culture Department offers a wide variety of programs for you and your family.  Before registering online to ensure a smooth registration experience:

  • Log in and create your account prior to registration day
  • Clear your browsing history on your web browser prior to registering for a program.  (Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge etc.) Completing this step should prevent error messages when completing your payment.
  • For best results, Incognito mode on Google Chrome is recommended.
  • Your address or street name must be entered in full, example "Burt Avenue". 
  • City/town that you live in must be entered as the community name that you reside in, example "Beeton" not New Tecumseth. 

Once you have created your online account you can:

  • View and register for the available programs
  • Add financial details 
  • Access and update your family's account information
  • View receipts, invoices and agreements
  • Create a personal calendar
