Emerald Ash Borer

The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an introduced insect pest that attacks and kills all species of ash trees in North America. The EAB has killed millions of ash trees across the northeastern United States and southern Ontario. It continues to spread across the province.

If you suspect an EAB infestation on a Town-owned tree, please let us know.

If you find an EAB-infested ash tree along a street or road in the Town of New Tecumseth, please contact the Public Works Department at 705-435-3900.

Public parks

If you find an EAB-infested ash tree in a public park in the Town of New Tecumseth, please contact the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department at 705-435-3900.

What you can do

You can help by protecting ash trees on private property and by planting or replacing trees. Removing an infested or dead ash tree can be dangerous, so we encourage you to contact an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist for tree removal or tree protection on your property.

Don't move firewood

You can help slow the spread of EAB by not moving firewood. Please buy and burn all firewood locally.
