Our recruitment and selection process
Step 1: Apply online |
All applications are received online through our Applicant Tracking System (ATS). To apply to one of our posted vacancies, please click the green "I am interested" button at the bottom of the job posting page. If this is your first time applying for a job with us you will need to create a profile first. Please ensure you upload all required documents (i.e. cover letter, resume, copies of credentials) outlined in the posting at the time you apply. The Town uses the ATS to communicate throughout the hiring process. For this reason, we ask that you consider providing consent to receive email communications when setting up your profile. Should you experience any difficulties using the ATS, you can reach out to the helpdesk directly by email at candidate.njoynhelp@cgi.com or by phone at 1-877-427-7717. Information collected will be used solely for the purpose of candidate selection, in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act. |
Step 2: Interview/job testing |
Candidates selected for interviews will be contacted by email to select an interview time. Once you've confirmed a timeslot, you will receive a follow up email with details of your interview. Please complete the Reference Check Consent Form provided and upload to your profile. Interviews are currently being held virtually. The Town follows a structured interview guide focusing on technical, competency and behavioural questions. The following video highlights some tips to help you prepare for your interview. The Town of New Tecumseth is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to inclusive, barrier-free recruitment and selection processes. If contacted for an interview, please advise Human Resources if you require accommodation. Due to the volume of applications received, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Some jobs will require job testing to evaluate skill performance related to the position. This step can take place before or after interviews. You will be notified of any job testing requirements when contacted about a vacancy. |
Step 3: Reference checking |
The Town will contact the successful candidate to obtain consent to complete reference checks. |
Step 4: Job offer |
Following satisfactory reference checks, the Town will provide a formal offer through the ATS. Please note that offers may still be conditional upon any of the following:
Please review your written offer and reach out to Human Resources to ask any questions prior to signing. |
Step 5: Onboarding |
Once you've accepted the offer, you will receive an email with instructions to complete onboarding documents. Please be sure to complete and upload these to your profile at least one (1) business day prior to your start date to allow adequate time for set up. You will receive a call from your supervisor prior to your start date to provide additional details for your first week. |
