Age Friendly Initiative

June 26, 2026

Did you know that Simcoe County is experiencing rapid aging, with its proportion of older adults growing faster than the national and provincial averages? The Town of New Tecumseth has identified the need for a comprehensive plan to ensure the needs of older adults are captured and considered in future planning. To develop this plan, we need your help!

From October 3rd to November 7th, we are running a survey to learn more about the barriers impacting social participation for older adults in our community. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and will provide us with valuable information as we move forward in creating a more age-friendly New Tecumseth.

Project Background

New Tecumseth’s Age-Friendly Action Initiative aims to focus on the social participation pillar of the World Health Organization’s framework for Age-Friendly Communities by developing a targeted needs assessment and action plan for older adults in the community.  The result of the project, expected by March 2026, will be a comprehensive guide to increasing and promoting social participation among older adults in New Tecumseth.
