Policing services in New Tecumseth are provided by the Nottawasaga detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Alliston.
Nottawasaga OPP Detachment Board
The Nottawasaga OPP Detachment Board provides civilian governance and oversight for policing provided by the Ontario Provincial Police in the municipalities served by the Nottawasaga OPP Detachment.
The Board was established under the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019 and provides a forum for the local municipalities to work together with the OPP on community safety priorities, policing objectives, and matters related to policing in the detachment area.
The Board does not respond to emergencies or police calls for service. Its role is to support local police governance by reviewing information from the Detachment Commander, providing input on local policing priorities, and reporting back to the municipalities served by the detachment.
The Nottawasaga OPP Detachment Board is composed of:

- Township of Essa Council Representative: Mayor Sandie Macdonald, Board Vice-Chair
- Town of New Tecumseth Council Representative: Mayor Richard Norcross
