Museum Mornings: Summer

Drop the kids off at the museum for Museum Mornings, a half-day adventure packed with hands-on history and creative crafts! Young explorers will dive into fascinating historical themes through interactive activities, storytelling, and art projects inspired by the past. Please bring a water bottle and snack. This is a drop off style program.

Museum Makerspace Workshops

Workshops for 16+

Creatively explore our rich local historic tapestry with engaging hands-on workshops designed for ages 16 and up. Our approachable 1-2 hour workshops, hosted by talented third-party instructors or enthusiastic museum staff invite you to play, create, learn, and connect. 

Cemetery Tour – Alliston Union Cemetery

Step into a timeless landscape where every headstone tells a story. Join the museum for a guided walking tour that brings history to life through the captivating tales of those laid to rest. Explore the artistry of monuments, learn about local heroes, and uncover hidden symbols etched in stone. Whether you’re drawn by heritage, architecture, or quiet reflection, this tour offers a meaningful experience for all ages. Along the way, you’ll discover the past of those who helped create this community.

Please note as this is an active cemetery, this tour may be rescheduled last minute. The address for this tour is 445 Victoria St. E. Please park at the rear of the cemetery, in the field and meet the instructor at the white shed. This program runs Rain or Shine.

Night at the Museum: Historic Homes and Dollhouses

Spend an evening with Museum staff exploring the fascinating history of New Tecumseth’s historic homes. As you enjoy engaging talks and stories, let the charm of these old-time houses spark your creativity. Then, take part in a hands-on art activity by painting your very own miniature dollhouse. Dollhouses are available for an additional fee, choose to decorate one solo or team up with a partner. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the finale of May is Museum Month at MOTB!

$7.00 per person for the historic talk and $30.00 per dollhouse (can build individually or as a team).

Looking for a fun and educational way to kick off March Break? Drop the kids off at the museum for Museum Mornings, a half day adventure packed with hands-on history and creative crafts! Knights in the Classroom – Hands on History – March 18th

Join the Knights in the Classroom this March Break for another amazing exploration of history! Following their hugely successful visit last year, they are back with their interactive, Hands-On History program which will provide participants with the opportunity to explore ancient history through games, sports and immersive activities you won’t soon forget. This is a family-friendly event and is great for all ages!

Cost: $11.00 per child. Adults are free but must register and adult supervision is required.

Heritage Highlight Talks

Dig into the past with our museum lecture series, where history comes alive through engaging 45-60 minute presentations by esteemed guest speakers and knowledgeable museum staff. Join us as we explore a range of historical and culturally significant topics that offer insight into the heritage that shaped our community.
