Residents are advised that construction of a new pedestrian crossover will take place at the intersection of Albert Street East and Centre Street South beginning October 1, 2026, weather permitting.
The project is being funded by Baxter Corporation through a development agreement with the Town. The new crossing will provide a safer way for Baxter employees to access the parking lot across the street from the facility, while also improving pedestrian access for residents and visitors.
Work includes the installation of:
- New concrete sidewalks
- A marked pedestrian crossover
- Pedestrian signals, push buttons and flashing beacons
- New signage
- Upgraded street lighting
- Other related infrastructure improvements
Construction is expected to be completed by November 6, 2026, weather permitting.
Traffic will continue to flow through the area during construction; however, temporary lane reductions may be required.
If sidewalks need to be closed, clearly marked pedestrian detours will be provided.
The Town thanks residents, businesses and motorists for their patience and cooperation while this important pedestrian safety improvement is completed.
