Support Ontario Youth Hosts Skilled Trades Boot Camp in New Tecumseth

On Thursday, March 5, the Town of New Tecumseth is pleased to welcome Support Ontario Youth (SOY) as they host a hands-on Skilled Trades Boot Camp, providing participants with an opportunity to explore careers in the trades through practical, guided learning.

The Tools in the Trade Boot Camp will bring together participants, employers, and certified trades professionals for a full day of experiential training in three high-demand areas: HVAC, Electrical, and Industrial Millwright. The event is supported by Honda of Canada Manufacturing and reflects the Town’s strong industrial base and focus on workforce development.

This free, one-day event introduces participants to careers in the skilled trades through skills assessments, hands-on instruction from licensed journeypersons, and direct connections with local employers to learn about apprenticeship pathways.

“We are proud to partner with Support Ontario Youth to help build the next generation of skilled trades professionals,” said Mayor Richard Norcross. “With a growing industrial sector, initiatives like this connect residents to well-paid, in-demand careers while strengthening our local workforce.”

Support Ontario Youth supports apprentices and employers across Ontario through mentorship, community partnerships, and its Group Sponsor Program. To date, the organization has registered more than 1,300 apprentices and delivered over 250 boot camps province-wide.

Residents interested in participating or learning more can email info@supportontarioyouth.ca or follow /supportONyouth on socials.
