Frequently Asked Questions
Except for the signs referred to in Section 9 of the Sign By-Law, no person shall erect, display, repair or alter a sign unless a sign permit is obtained.
If the applicant is not the owner of the property or building of which the sign or sign structure is to be erected, a signed consent or letter of authorization from the registered owner of the property is required, authorizing the applicant to apply for and erect the proposed sign.
Once a complete sign permit application has been submitted that contains all required information, it will be circulated for review. Reviewing departments typically provide comments within one (1) week. If there are no concerns, the sign permit can be issued shortly thereafter. However, if additional information is required or a component of the application has to be addressed, this will extend the sign permit process.
All sign fees are charged in accordance with the Town of New Tecumseth Fees and Charges By-law and can be found above under Sign Permit Fees.

Notary Publics can also verify that signatures and marks of a document are genuine. The requirements to become a Notary Public are more stringent than for a Commissioner and most are lawyers or judicial officers. If you require a document to be “notarized” as opposed to “commissioned”, the person administering the oath or affidavit generally is a lawyer.
Certified True Copies
The Town Clerk or Deputy Clerk may authorize certified true copies of documents, however other Town commissioners are not able to. Please call 705-435-3900 or send us an email to book an appointment with the Clerk or Deputy Clerk to have a true copy certified.
