Kennel Licensing
If you wish to open a kennel in the Town of New Tecumseth, we can help you with the application process. The Town also regulates and inspects kennels on a regular basis.

Applying for a kennel licence
When applying to operate a kennel in New Tecumseth, be sure to:
- Contact the Town's Planning Department to see if your property is correctly zoned. Visit in-person at Town Hall, call the department at 705-435-3900 or email Planning and Development .
- Download and complete the Kennel Licence Application Form, or visit Town Hall to obtain a physical copy.
- Pay all associated fees required. This fee is refundable if the application is refused.
- Supply the Town with a criminal record check with respect to animal cruelty.
- Submit a site plan for review.
- Submit your completed form, any fees and required documentation to Administration Services at Town Hall.
Kennel inspections
Kennels are inspected twice every year. Canine Control enforces the Kennel By-law and you can reach them at 905-729-4972 if you have any concerns.
If a kennel is found to violate the Kennel By-law, we will give written notice to the owner to fix any violations within 30 days. After that period, the Humane Society is notified. Any further non-compliance may result in the loss of the kennel licence.
Licence expiry
Kennel licences expire on December 31 every year and must be renewed with the Town.
