Toys for Tickets Campaign Returns
The Town of New Tecumseth is once again offering its annual Toys for Tickets program.
“Now more than ever, it is important to help those in our community who may need a little extra help during the holiday season. Our Toys for Tickets campaign is a successful initiative that helps build awareness about parking restrictions while embracing community spirit and helping those in need,” said New Tecumseth Mayor Richard Norcross.
From Wednesday, November 30 to Friday, December 9, 2022, only, the Town of New Tecumseth is accepting toys or gift certificates as payment for your parking ticket. Purchase a toy and bring it in its original packaging along with the receipt to the Administration Centre that is of equal or greater value of the parking ticket.
Parking tickets issued from November 15, 2022, up to and including those issued on
November 29, 2022 are eligible to be redeemed during the Toys for Tickets campaign at The Town of New Tecumseth Administration Centre, 10 Wellington St. E., Alliston Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Accessible parking space and fire route violations are not eligible to participate.
In 2021, a total of 76 toys were collected as payment for 41 parking tickets valued at $1,585.
Toys collected throughout this year’s Toys for Tickets campaign will once again be distributed to youth in our community through the local Lions Clubs Christmas Hamper program as well as My Sister’s Place.
In addition to our annual Toys for Tickets campaign, in the spirit of the holiday season, our overnight parking by-law (no parking on streets between 2 a.m. to 7 a.m.) will not be enforced over the holidays from Friday, December 16 to midnight on January 1, 2023.
“Allowing overnight parking over the holidays gives our residents and visitors one less thing to worry about. If we do get inclement weather during this time, we ask our residents and visitors to please consider the needs of our snowplows,” Norcross said.
